The Hoop public house is a freehouse which dates back 450 years. It is famous for its wide range of guest beers which change daily. The ales are purchased from a variety of breweries who supply an extensive range of beers from light summer ales through to dark winter stouts.

The Hoop also offers a superb daily menu, head chef, Phil Utz, bases this selection of fine fare on fresh, home cooked food with traditional values.

In bygone times, an overflowing tankard was said to be cock-a-hoop, and the expression has since come to denote merry-making and drinking without stint.

Our new home brewed, seasonal changing Hoop beer is now available on tap at the bar.

The recipe for our beer changes with the seasons. From being rich and dark in the winter to being a cool, golden beer in the summer, it is guaranteed to be enjoyed no matter the weather.

The Hoop Dining Room

During 2005 The Hoop freehouse has undergone extensive refurbishment and building works, which are now complete.

The project has resulted in extra room in the bar and eating areas, inside toilets, a new kitchen and above all, a separate dining room seating 36 people.
